Which rules apply to importing a car into Georgia
From 2 April 2026, the age of an M1 passenger vehicle changes the excise rate: vehicles aged 0–6 years and those older than six years fall under different rates. This is not a simple blanket ban on older cars.
What to consider

Base rate for a 0–6-year vehicle: GEL 1.50 per cm³.

Base rate for a vehicle older than six years: GEL 4.50 per cm³.

The rate for a 0–6-year left-hand-drive hybrid is reduced by 60%; right-hand or converted steering has a separate regime.
